The Karamah Holistic Arts Organisation was established and set up in 2005 by three contemporary visual artists in different diciplines: Rehan Malik; Film Maker, Charlotte Prendergast; Fine Artists & Product Designer and Karimah Bint Dawaoud; Fine Costume Artist & Costume Designer.

All three Artists are of BME (black & ethnic minorites) cultures; of African and Asian decent.

The Karamah Produces work realtive to Islamic Art and lifestyle using film and textiles, caligraghpy and gramnet designs as mediums that celebrate oriental art in tradional and contempory forms.

It's the ethos of the Karamah to bridge the gap of high and low culture, fine art and community art.

The Karamah also provide an umberlla for artists interested in Islamic art to have peak experinces relative to the making and exhibiting of fine art work.

The holistic side of things looks at delivering art activites within a rounded frame work. Art is more than the technical mixing of colours or the line of a brush stroke.

We share theories and disciplines that support the production of images to encourage the maker and viewer of an art piece to go beyound the surface.

Morals and manners are also at the core of making reagrdeless of the medium. By this we mean more than common coutesy; we have a respect for our volunteeers who in turn respect our leadership, not just creative thinking about producing the work itslrf and the purpose of why the work being created.

Many of the themes and stories in western culture; art, fashion and interior design and inspired by Islamic art, the Victorian bohemian art movement, the seventies art deco are directly influenced by islamic art often celebrating organic and floral form.

The Karamah artists draw upon these oriental influences to produce new work that is appealing to contemporary audiences.

The type of activites that we undertake include art residencies, fashion shows, film making and visual art exhibitions, mentoring, volunteering and community art work shops.
